Vintage garnet solitaire ring. Set to centre with a natural unenhanced octagonal step-cut garnet in a open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 13.65 carats, to a striking solitaire design featuring curving claws, a linear gallery and geometric open backholing, leading to smoothly conforming shoulders and flowing through to a solid D-shape shank. Marked 18 carat yellow gold, maker's mark 'S B A', French, circa 1950.
