Trump signs bill allowing mentally ill to have guns
#1
President Donald Trump quietly signed a bill into law Tuesday rolling back an Obama-era regulation that made it harder for people with mental illnesses to purchase a gun.

The rule, which was finalized in December, added people receiving Social Security checks for mental illnesses and people deemed unfit to handle their own financial affairs to the national background check database.

Had the rule fully taken effect, the Obama administration predicted it would have added about 75,000 names to that database.

So let me get this straight. These people aren't competent enough to handle their own affairs but now they can own their own gun?

"Obama-era regulation that made it harder for people with mental illnesses to purchase a gun."

Doesn't sound like they weren't allowed before.

Well they are allowed now.

Imagine that. Not mentally stable enough to handle your own affairs but somehow stable enough to purchase and own a gun.

But again, it was just harder under Obama. Obama's America looked pretty much the same on this issue.

You think a dyslexic should have rights taken away?

It wasn't exactly easy before Obama. He created a regulation that did nothing more than make it harder. Not impossible. Just harder. Trump has just returned things to were they were. If you couldn't get a gun before Obama, you still can't.

Some people shouldn't be allowed guns. But most mental disabilities in and of themselves aren't grounds to deny ones rights. Bet you think someone not competent enough to manage their affairs should retain their right to vote.

A dyslexic doesn't have someone else handle their affairs.
