Gothic revival gold cufflinks by Wièse. A pair of matching cufflinks, each composed of a marquise plaque featuring a finely pierced symmetrical florette pattern from a central point of gold beadwork, securely fitted to reverse with a five linked chain to an intricately carved bar featuring a foliate design with open scrollwork, approximately 2.1cm in length. Tested 18 carat yellow gold, approximately 14.14 grams in weight, makers mark for Weise, signed 'WIESE', French, circa 1885.
Jules Wièse (1819-1890) is considered to be one of the finest French jewellers of the nineteenth century.
