Description

Extremely Rare, Georgian turquoise and diamond fede ring. Composed of two joined hands set with sixty four round cabochon turquoises in closed back grain settings with an approximate combined weight of 0.20 carats, and additionally set with thirty seven round rose cut diamonds in closed back grain settings with an approximate combined weight of 0.06 carats, to an articulated fede ring formed from three flat bands joined to the reverse with a pin, and opening to reveal a carved double heart form. Tested yellow gold and silver, circa 1750, accompanied by fitted box.

For a similar design of a slightly later date, see John Benjamin's 'Starting to Collect Antique Jewellery', 2005, page 101.

As shown in the images, this ring is missing a number of diamonds and turquoises. This is a fragile piece and therefore it is not suitable for everyday wear.
